Brain interface

It is able to adapt with the brain using Bayes net to detect signal and perform basic motor function. But probing into the inner working of the brain is still unknown. Someone says its fractal-ish an can’t break the black box that’s our brain. But who knows. We always say something is impossible until somebody shows it is.

Though the national obesity rate is at 35%, by making different choice, the probability of that happening on us is quite different. Take the choices that would give your favorable chances.

How the Nobel dream went away

Very fun and insightful story about the inner working and the competitive nature of the academia world. This story revolves around finding evidence about space inflation theory. Every scientists is trying to rush to the resut and claim victory. To achieve it, they would even refuse to cooperate with other scientists and rush to press conference without peer reviews. In the end, the first team that discovered it has to retract their paper because of incompatable evidence from their competitor.

How to measure the sun spot

This story tells how sun spot counting, one of the oldest scientific observation, can sustain itself that long wihtou accurate result. The answer is suprising: they didn’t update the method to observe the sun spots and still use eye observation to ensure the current data will be compatible with the previous data, thus making sun spot data the longest observation ever recorded. Lesson learned for everyone trying to do super long longitudinal study.
